For Physicians
Exercise is MedicineDear Colleague,
A recent survey conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) found that:

Nearly two-thirds of patients (65%) would be more interested in exercising to stay healthy if advised by their doctor and given additional resources. Four out of 10 physicians (41%) talk to their patients about the importance of exercise, but don’t always offer suggestions on the best ways to be physically active. 25% of patients look to their doctor first for advice on exercise and physical activity.

ACSM supported by the American Medical Association has developed the “Exercise is Medicine” initiative, which seeks to encourage physicians to “prescribe” exercise during patient visits. Physicians are well aware that exercise is powerful medicine in the prevention and treatment of numerous chronic conditions that often occur with aging such as metabolic syndrome: obesity, insulin resistance, impaired fasting glucose, diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, vascular disease, and hypogonadism.

We realize the many challenges you face in the health care setting, as a multitude of patients with a myriad of symptoms and disease processes come through your doors on a daily basis. Trying to add one more discussion may seem unfeasible. And we all understand that the discussion is not as simple as, “You need to start an exercise program”. Patients want and need specifics on what to do and how to do it.

Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine is a medically based multi-disciplinary practice that offers a full range of cutting edge metabolic testing and evaluation tools that are utilized to develop comprehensive, safe, and effective nutrition and exercise prescriptions. These prescriptions can be implemented in home gym settings or other exercise facilities with appropriate exercise professionals according to patient preferences. Alternatively, we offer physician supervised exercise therapy and rehabilitation services for safety and efficacy of therapy.

Please feel free to refer your patients to Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine when you recommend that they obtain their own individualized exercise prescription. To learn more about Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine center please go to www.nahealthassoc.com .We look forward to working with you and your patients toward the goal of better health.
