Does Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine accept my insurance plan?
Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine accepts ALL insurance plans however is considered “out-of-network.” Most insurance plans provide out-of-network benefits unless they are an HMO. Please consult your insurance plan for details on your out-of-network benefits. Feel free to contact our billing office if you have any further questions regarding how your insurance plan will cover care provided at Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine.


Do I have to change primary care providers?
Dr. Cavender is an expert in the specialty of CardioMetabolic Medicine which incorporates Cutting Edge Diagnostics & Medical Treatment Interventions, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Prescriptive Exercise, and Hormone Balance & Restoration. He will work with your primary care physician and any other specialists involved in your care to coordinate treatment planning.


I live out of town. Can I become a patient of Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine?
Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine treats many long-distance patients. After an initial phone consultation, you will need to travel to our office in New Albany, Ohio for a comprehensive evaluation, history, and physical exam. Follow-up will then proceed remotely for follow-up laboratory results and regular phone contact with the doctor. Annual on-site exams are required.


Can I skip portions of the Health & Wellness evaluation process if I am only interested in one type of treatment?
Customized to the individual, Dr. Cavender will utilize his clinical expertise to determine which evaluation components are absolutely necessary and which are optional. It is important to determine and monitor underlying health risks while employing particular therapies.

If I’m interested in becoming a patient, what should I do next?
All patients of Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine begin the evaluation process with a consultation, either in person or by phone with Dr. Cavender. He will ask you questions about your health history, your current health status, and your health goals. He will explain to you how Ohio CardioMetabolic Sports Medicine may be able to help you reach your goals.
